About the Hospital

The Rockefeller University Hospital

The Rockefeller University Hospital was founded in 1910 to translate basic science into better medicine. Throughout the years, the Hospital has been the site of many seminal research breakthroughs, including the discovery that genes are made of DNA. In the 1950s, the Hospital served as the model for the clinical research facility created by the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. The 20-bed inpatient facility in the Hospital was renovated in 2001 and the Robert and Harriet Heilbrunn Outpatient Research Center was completely renovated in 2003. Today, The Rockefeller University Hospital is the largest private General Clinical Research Center funded by the NIH. Your tax-deductible contribution to DirectEffect will fund research in both the clinic and the laboratory. Thank you for your support.
